Since 1963, Sonatrach has been the driving energy of Algeria. We are the largest company in Africa, and the 11th largest company worldwide in the field of hydrocarbons production. A vertically integrated company specialising in gas, oil, and power generation, Sonatrach also has a growing international presence and a focus on gas as the clean energy of tomorrow.
Sonatrach has entered into partnership with the majority of the world’s leading energy companies, including Cepsa, Repsol, YPF, Endesa and Gas Natural. Sonatrach works with it’s partners not only in Algeria but also in Spain, Peru, Yemen, and elsewhere around the globe. And it is through such partnerships that exciting projects such as Medgaz, the future gas pipeline that will link Algeria directly with Spain will become possible in the coming years.
With planned investments of over $20 billion dollars in the next five years, together with our present and future partners, Sonatrach’s goal is to sign 10 new production and exploration agreements every year until 2005, doubling the number of foreign companies operating in Algeria. With most of the Algerian subsoil yet to be explored, our future as one of the worlds leading energy companies is just beginning.
